After 8 wonderful years, Springboard Forward closed its doors in June 2010.
Letter from the founder
To all our supporters, advisors, coaches, board members and staff:
I want to express my deepest thanks for your incredible commitment of energy and resources to the mission of Springboard Forward.
In 2002, we set out to demonstrate a new idea to foster career mobility for those stuck in a cycle of low-wage jobs. We believed if we could help people discover work that inspired them, they would begin directing their lives in new, exciting directions. We also believed that employers would benefit by having a more engaged workforce.
As you can see on this website, the results speak for themselves. We have a lot to be proud of, and many in the field incorporated our learnings into their program models.
Unfortunately, the economy and my own personal health conspired to bring our work to an end. In some ways, I believe it was time. While the nonprofit sector gave us a platform to establish a new model, it did not offer a clear path to achieve widespread scale.
I am happy to report that my health has recovered and I have renewed my commitment to this work. I have been looking outside the nonprofit sector for clues to achieving widespread impact and taking models to scale.
